OUR VALUES

The Wellington Church Network (WCN) is not a church, nor a denomination. It's an organic, dynamic movement in which all Bible-believing churches and organisations can participate. We believe many working together are stronger than many working alone. By developing unity amongst Wellington churches, and building partnerships with like-minded organisations, we will amplify our combined efforts to help our city and her people to thrive.

WE’RE PASSIONATE FOR WELLINGTON TO UNITE.

The Council of Wellington Churches promotes and supports city-wide unity initiatives that fit within the 4 priorities of our vision for the Wellington Church Network: Connect, Pray, Serve and Declare.

The Council is supported by an Advisory Board made up of the regional leaders of all the denominations, and the pastors of large churches in the city.

The Advisory Board meets at least once a year for fellowship, prayer and vision, to give direction to the Council on the way forward.

OUR PRIORITIES

  • CONNECT

We connect pastors and church leaders together across the city, and actively promote and support networks of Christians and Church leaders in denominations, business and life.

We believe relational unity comes before functional unity. We invest into existing pastors' networks across the city and help to establish new ones where they don't exist. Our goal is that 'No pastor walks alone!'.

We build strong mutual connections with Wellington City Council, Wellington-based Members of Parliament, and a wide range of Christian organisations and businesses across the city because we believe intentional partnership is essential for Te Whanganui-a-Tara to thrive.

  • PRAY

We prioritse time together as pastors and church leaders to worship God and pray for our city, and actively promote and support prayer and worship initiatives across the city.

We believe prayer & worship builds the spiritual platform for God to move in our city, so we're passionate about uniting in prayer & worship to minister to God together.

We promote and support prayer & worship events and initiatives across the city, and coordinate the annual Wellington Prayer Breakfast to bring Christian leaders and believers together to pray, worship & connect.

We have a vision of a network of prayer hubs of intercessor, pastors and church leaders across the city.

  • SERVE

We work together to serve our city, especially the poor and vulnerable, and engage with the City Council and other community-focussed groups who seek the benefit of the city.

We're aware Te Whanganui-a-Tara is beautiful yet broken; that pressing social issues pervade the lives of many people in our city.

We inspire and rally the Wellington Church and her leaders to serve our city with Christ's love together.

We believe it takes more than a great church to reach our city; it takes a great network of Churches.

  • DECLARE

We work together to declare the name of Jesus and His gospel in our city, and actively promote and support ministries that reach out to bring hope, truth and love to people in our communities.

We want to declare Jesus to and over our city. We support unified initiatives that do this, and uphold the values and mana of the Church in our relationship with civic leaders and community groups.

We aim to be a positive, constructive voice, sharing stories of the excellent work that God's Church is doing across Te Whanganui-a-Tara.

WE BELIEVE.

The Wellington Church Network is a collaborative network of churches relating and working together in unity for the benefit & blessing of the city. This unity is founded on biblical truth as expressed in the Apostles Creed and the Nicene Creed, and we choose to focus on what we agree on, not where we differ. This was the earnest prayer of Jesus for His Church, that 'we would be one, just as He and the Father were one' (John 17:20-23).

Pastors, Church Leaders and believers from congregations who uphold these beliefs are urged to participate in the network, and to 'make every effort to maintain the unity of the Spirit through the bonds of peace' (Ephesians 4:3)
